National Exam Participants in SMALB Facing Communication Problem

The difficulty in communicating using sign language is a main constraint in the implementation of the National Exam (UN) for disabled students at State SMALB 01 Jakarta, Jalan Pertanian Raya Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta, Monday (4/13). The first day of the exam with Indonesian subjects is attended by 10 deaf students

“Our problem in overseeing the disabled students is using sign language. That's why, the teacher is exchanged with other teachers of Santi Rama School for disabled student who also handles the deaf students,” explained Committee Head of State SMALB 01 Jakarta, Rambat.

City Department Education Ensured CBT Exam Runs Well

According to Rambat, besides communication problem, the students also need the pictorial exam questions. “The type of deaf students' exam question should be simple, consisting of pictures,” he said.

Isa Resita (17), one of deaf students admitted she has prepared the exam as well. “Indeed, I had difficulty to do the exam, but thanks god I can handle it,” expressed Resita while using sign language.

Especially for SMALBN students, only three subjects are tested, such as Indonesian, Math, and English which held in three days.
