As many as 30 students from SDN Sunter Agung 09 took part in Literacy Wednesday activities programmed by the North Jakarta Library and Archives Agency at the Digital Reading Corner (Pocadi), North Jakarta Mayor's Office.
It aims to improve children's interest in reading
North Jakarta Libraries and Archives Sub-agency's Library Section Head, Fajar Andi Nugroho stated this activity is a series of Literacy Tours accompanied by the North Jakarta Mayor's Tour.
"It aims to improve children's interest in reading to increase literacy and introduce them to the use of Pocadi," he expressed, Wednesday (2/21).
Population Service Targets Students in South JakartaThey were also given space to express and show their talents such as dancing, singing, poetry, storytelling, etc.
Aside that, the North Jakarta Libraries and Archives Sub-agency together with the North Jakarta Maritime, Agricultural and Food Security Sub-agency (KPKP) introduces children to various types of plants, fish cultivation, and the viola lovebird breeding within the North Jakarta Mayor's Office.
"Besides Pocadi, the Mayor's Office also has a library, children's playground area, WKJU Farm's, and others, surely these facilities are very good for children to know and use," he explained.
One of the students, Said (8) admitted he was happy with the activity. Moreover, there were storytelling and singing sessions together, as well as being invited to tour the Mayor's Office and WKJU Farm's premises.
"It was exciting, I had a tour of the North Jakarta Mayor's Office. We also saw dozens of lovebirds and the most exciting thing was feeding the fish in WKJU Farm's pond," he stated.
