Dukcapil Begins Arranging Identity of Residents Living Outside Jakarta

The Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Agency (Dukcapil) is gradually starting to organize the identities of residents domiciled outside Jakarta.

The population structuring and control program according to domicile will be implemented after the election

Previously, socialization regarding the orderly arrangement of population administration to all people with Jakarta ID cards, both outside and residing in the Jakarta area, has been ongoing since September 2023, including data collection on residents who are de jure and de facto different, whose whereabouts are unknown, who have died and others.

Jakarta Dukcapil Agency Head, Budi Awaluddin said orderly population administration needs to be implemented in the interests of society at large considering the accuracy of data can influence regional development processes and public policies to create a civilized and prosperous society.

"The population structuring and control program according to domicile will be implemented after the election. We are still waiting for the official results from the KPU," he expressed, Monday (2/26).

As planned, the implementation would be conducted in stages every month, starting from those who died and RTs which no longer existed but were still listed on the KTPs used by the community.

There are 81,000 residents who have died and 13,000 RTs are no longet exist. Of these two categories, they are:

1. Objections from the owner of the house/rented building/building

2. Residents who have not been de facto domiciled for more than one year

3. Prohibition from related legal agencies/institutions

4. Mandatory e-KTP which has not been recorded for five years from the age of mandatory KTP

For those on duty/service and studying outside the city or abroad are not subject to regulation of population documents according to domicile.

"Likewise for those who still have assets or a house in Jakarta," he added.

Until now, it has been observed that many residents have transferred their population data according to their current place of residence. He detailed that the population leaving Jakarta was 243,160 people, while the population of new arrivals from outside Jakarta was 136,200 people throughout 2023.

The public can see their NIK status through Check the NIK status of Jakarta Residents https://datawarga-dukcapil.jakarta.go.id/. However, "NIK" residents affected by the population arrangement according to domicile do not need to worry and are asked to come to the nearest Dukcapil Agency counters to get information regarding their NIK, thus it can be reactivated in accordance with applicable procedures.
