Block G Market Management is Bad, Ahok Says

Jakarta Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama is complaining about the bad management of Tanah Abang Block G Market, Central Jakarta. As a result, the market is very deserted from visitors.

The market's escalator is only turned on when I come here. No wonder, many people are reluctant to shop here

"The market's escalator is only turned on when I come here. No wonder, many people are reluctant to shop here," exclaimed Ahok, when he did a sudden inspection in Tanah Abang Block G Market, Wednesday (4/15).

Restoration for Tanah Abang Block G Cancelled

He urges the PD Jaya Market to seriously manage the market in a bid to attract more visitors, as well as to fix damaged facilities and infrastructures.

Some peddlers decided to leave their kiosks. Even, the rest peddlers use their kiosk as warehouse and prefer to open business outside market.

"People will not shop if there are just 2 kiosks open in the aisle. In mall, every peddler will be sanctioned if they don't open their kiosk. PD Jaya Market should be able to mimic it," he asserted.

Besides giving sanction for peddlers who close the kiosk, he also observed monopoly of kiosk's ownership. Considering, many peddlers have more than 10 units. Yet they only use them as warehouse.
