Three Months, 572 Cats in West Jakarta Sterilized

From January to March 20, 2024, as many as 572 cats in West Jakarta have been sterilized.

Sterilization targets stray male cats

West Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Sub-agency (KPKP) Head, Novy C Palit expressed that from 572 cats sterilized, 90 were from Grogol Petamburan Sub-district, 114 were from Kalideres, 46 were from Cengkareng, and 322 were from Kembangan.

"Sterilization targets stray male cats to prevent male and female cats from reproducing to reduce the cat population in Jakarta," she expressed, Monday (3/25).

According to him, the sterilization itself was free of charge and was realized in collaboration betweem the West Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency with the Jakarta Animal Health and Livestock Health Service Center UPT.

"With a controlled population, rabies can also be prevented, thus Jakarta remains a rabies-free area," he stated.
