KPKP Agency Harvesting Vegetables at Kim Tae Gon Church Garden

Jakarta Food Tenacity, Maritime, and Agriculture (KPKP) Agency harvested various of vegetables together with Kim Tae Gon Church Garden's Women Farmer Group (KWT)'s at Pegangsaan Dua Urban Village, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.

The harvested plants include kale, Brazilian spinach, basil and pumpkin.

KPKP Agency's Agriculture Division Head, Mujiati, said the harvest is conducted two days in a week.

The harvest will be sold to local residents to be processed as banana cake, breadfruit stew, pudding and others.

"Jakarta KPKP Agency gives production facilities such as seed, fertilizer, polybag, shovel and hoe to develop the urban farming," she said, Friday (4/26).

Mujiati explained that this urban farming at the church can provide inspiration for local communities in utilizing limited land and existing space into productive green areas for food security in an effort to realize food independence.

"It is hoped that through this activity the community will have a better understanding and enthusiasm in developing urban agriculture in their respective regions," she stated.
