Emission Tests at West Jakarta Mayor Office Target 200 Vehicles

"The material provided is about motor vehicle exhaust emission test technicians. This is in order to support the Blue Sky program which is being promoted by the Jakarta Provincial Government," he said, Tuesday (4/30).

Meanwhile, Jakarta Environment Agency's Head of the Environmental Pollution Control Section, Tiyana Brotoadi, explained the training is implementing Governor Regulation No 66/2020 about Motor Vehicle Exhaust Emission Test.

This regulation, Tiyana added, mandates the implementation of motor vehicle exhaust emission test provisions for individual passenger cars and motorbikes.

Tiyana revealed that based on BPS data, currently the number of individual passenger cars in Jakarta has reached 3,544,491 vehicles and the number of motorbikes is 16,711,638 vehicles.

"To carry out this mandate, it is necessary to prepare supporting facilities and infrastructure which include an emission test information system, emission test site and emission test technicians," Tiyana said.

It is stated that the number of emission test locations required for private passenger car emissions testing is around 500 locations. However, at this time there are 468 places available. Meanwhile, approximately 1,000 test sites are needed for motorbike emissions and currently there are only 180.

Therefore, his party is holding training for emission test technicians to build an understanding of emissions tests related to regulations, vehicle engineering, information systems and practices regarding emissions tests.

"It is hoped that the number of emission test technicians will be fulfilled and can provide education on the importance of controlling air pollution in Jakarta," Tiyana concluded.
