Nakertransgi: May Day Gives Enthusiasm to Face Global Competition for Employment

The May Day commemoration, born on May 1, 1890, has meaning for all workers/laborers, namely providing lessons and a spirit of struggle that are very valuable for all workers.

Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration and Energy Agency (Nakertransgi) Head, Hari Nugroho stated the lessons and spirit of this struggle are expected to face changes and challenges at the national and regional levels and prepare ourselves to face global competition in terms of workers.

He explained labor dynamics were influenced by the ratification of related labor laws and regulations which still gave rise to differences in interpretation from the parties

Hence, there was a need for unifying efforts between workers, employers, and the government to create harmonious, dynamic, and just industrial relations.

"One of these unifying efforts is very effective if it is made to commemorate May Day. It is a real effort to open active lines of communication between workers and elements of the government and employers to realize social and economic prosperity," he expressed, Wednesday (5/1).

He explained that May Day again fosters a deep meaning of togetherness for the parties concerned to build and develop visionary industrial relations such as the big theme of this year's May Day this year, namely 'Working Together to Create Competent Workers' with the sub-theme Creating Togetherness of Workers/Labourers, Entrepreneurs and Government.

"Hopefully, it can also be a means of establishing a friendship, thus other positive activities that have an impact on improving the productivity climate in the company can increase the welfare of workers," he stated.
