Hundreds of Buildings Around Apuran River will Be Demolished

Although the buildings have been controlled repeatedly, yet local citizens are still recklessly reconstructing their buildings on the edge of Apuran River in RW 05, Cengkareng Timur Urban Village, Cengkareng West Jakarta. No wonder, the place looks dirty and prone to flooding.

Based on beritajakarta.com observations, the amount of the buildings is about hundreds and most of them are semi-permanent and permanent that generally owned by newcomer.

Such condition also makes the river narrowed and shallow due to mud that has not been dredged since dozen years ago.

25 Illegal Buildings on the Channel Demolished

Kasmuri (50), a resident of the buildings admitted he has lived more than 7 years. With his family, he opens a business by collecting used goods.

According to him, he and other hundreds of residents living in RT 05/05 have never been controlled, even though other residents in RT 15/05 already controlled three times.

"Buildings that spread in RT 15/05 had been controlled three times, but they recklessly rebuilt their buildings," he expressed, Tuesday (4/21).

Head of West Jakarta Water Management Sub-Department, Hendry Dunant plans to control those buildings. It aims to smoothen the normalization process in Apuran River.

"We will control the buildings soon by involving Satpol PP and then continued with river normalization," he disclosed.
