Satpol PP personnel tore down 60 buildings stood atop Cakung Lama Riverbank, Pegangsaan Dua Urban Village, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, Thursday (4/23).

We managed to tear down 60 out of 70 buildings. All is targeted to be torn down this month

Those buildings that has been built since dozen years caused narrowing river. Consequently, the water river overflows whenever rainy season about to come.

“We managed to tear down 60 out of 70 buildings. All is targeted to be torn down this month,” said Head of Pegangsaan Dua Urban Village, Abdul Buang.

As known, Cakung Lama River as long as 5 kilometers passes four urban villages and three sub-districts, but now it only leaves 2-3 meters.

Buang explained, such buildings were built on the riverbank as long as 500 meters, precisely at RT 01-07/03.

“The building owners won’t be given compensation due to their buildings stood atop land belongs to city administration,” he finished.
