Electrical Short Circuit Triggers Fire at CBU

An electrical short circuit is suspected to have triggered the fire of a resident's house on Jalan Cipinang Pulo Maja, RT 15/11, No. 30, Cipinang Besar Utara (CBU), Jatinegara, East Jakarta, Thursday (6/6) at 3.37 AM.

East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-agency (Gulkarmat) Operation Section Acting Head, Gatot Sualeman said the house owner was already asleep when the incident occurred.

They were suddenly shocked by the smell of burning from the back of one of the rooms. After checking, the fire had grown and they rushed out yelling for help to residents to put out the fire.

To put the fire, as many as 11 fire engines and 45 firefighters were immediately deployed to the scene.

"We have extinguished it within one hour or at 4.45 AM," he explained.

He explained personnel had difficulty getting to the location due to narrow access and private vehicles parked on the roadside.

"No casualties and fatalities in the incident. The case now is handled by the Jatinegara Sector Police," he added.

CBU Urban Village's Economy and Development Section Acting Head, Andi Agung Yasser added four PPSU personnel were also sent to help to put out the fire.

"They were on a night picket," he stated.
