15,000 Fish Seeds Stocked in Setu Babakan

The South Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture, Food Security Sub-agency (KPKP) together with the Ciganjur Fishery Product Inspection and Certification Production Center (PPISHP) UPT, distributed 15,000 tawes fish seeds to the Setu Babakan Betawi Culture Village Area Management Unit (UPK PBB).

It aims to increase fish population stocks

South Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency Head, Hasudungan A. Sidabalok said the tawes fish seeds given would be stocked in the Setu Babakan Reservoir, Serengseng Sawah, Jagakarsa.

"It aims to increase fish population stocks, maintain ecosystems and increase fish production in public waters to meet the nutrition of local communities," he expressed, Monday (6/24).

He explained this action is also an effort to conserve aquatic resources, rivers or reservoirs. The type of fish stocked is adjusted to the native fish species in the waters.

"Hopefully, fish can grow and develop well so that people can enjoy it as a source of animal protein needs," he hoped.

Setu Babakan Betawi Culture Village Area Caretaker, Farah expressed her gratitude for the cooperation and attention of related stakeholders towards environmental sustainability at this location.

According to her, distributing fish seeds is also an effort to increase the productivity of public waters such as reservoirs and reservoirs which could be beneficial for residents.

"Maybe, in the future, you won't just be stocking fish, but you can harvest them together," she stated.
