14 Fallen and Broken Trees in N. Jakarta Finally Evacuated

The North Jakarta Parks and City Forest Sub-agency (Tamhut) has completed the evacuation of 14 fallen and broken trees that occurred on Wednesday (7/3) and Thursday (7/4), due to heavy rain accompanied by strong winds.

"All fallen trees in six sub-districts have been evacuated. It involved joint officers until last night," expressed Routes and Cemeteries Section Head, Prihanto Budi Susilo, Friday (7/5).

In Penjaringan Sub-district, he explained, there were three fallen trees and two broken trees, followed by two fallen trees and one broken tree in Koja Sub-district, and one fallen tree in Cilincing Sub-district.

Then one broken tree in Kelapa Gading Sub-district, as well as one fallen tree and one broken tree in Pademangan and Tanjung Priok sub-districts.

"The average height of fallen trees and broken branches reaches 15 to 80 centimeters for the types of Karet, Waru, Cherry, Pine, Guava, Buni, Mango, Trembesi, Banyan, Tamarind Kranji, and Chinese Pete," he explained.

Then its evacuation involved 50 personnel from the North Jakarta Parks and City Forest Sub-agency and Executing Unit plus a crane car.

"This is done to prevent unwanted things," he explained.

Residents whose vehicles or property are hit by fallen trees can make a compensation insurance claim to the Jakarta Parks and City Forest Agency which can be submitted online at https://bit.ly/formsantunanproduktumbang.

"I also urge residents to be more alert and not to get close to lush trees when there is heavy rain accompanied by strong winds," he added.

Penjaringan Sub-district Head, Darmawan uttered that in his zone, there were five fallen trees which were immediately handled quickly by joint officers.

In the tree fall incident last afternoon, there was a type of Karet tree on Jalan Paus, Penjaringan which hit a car and motorbike. The owner has submitted a claim to the Tamhut Agency.

"All fallen trees have also been evacuated by personnel from the Tamhut Sub-agency and PPSU. So, I urge the public to be careful when on the road and for private tree owners to regularly maintain their trees," he closed.
