68 Kg of Vegetables Harvested at Cipayung Edu Farm

Vegetables with a total weight of 68 kilograms are successfully harvested from urban farming land in the Cipayung Edu Farm area, Payung Tunas Teratai RPTRA, Cipayung Urban Village, East Jakarta, Friday (7/12). The harvest was led by East Jakarta TP PKK Chairwoman, Diah Anwar.

According to her, the vegetables harvested consisted of Peanuts, Shallots, Cucumbers, Eggplant, Pak Choy, Kale, and Papaya.

"There are so many of them and this is like a bumper harvest," she expressed.

She explained this harvest was proof that the greening program in East Jakarta was going well and could be an example for other areas. Even, vegetables can be harvested on this land at any time.

"Some of the harvest is distributed and some is also sold. The money is used for urban farming operations, such as purchasing seeds and others. The selling price is of course far from the market price," she explained.

On the urban farming land of Cipayung Edu Farm, many kinds of vegetables were planted. They were Corn, Eggplant, Shallots, Long Beans, Peanuts, Chilies, Pak Choy, Lettuce, Rice, and other types of plants.

Especially for Pulung Corn, currently, 300 have been planted on this urban farming land. As planned, it can be harvested in the next month.

Cipayung Sub-district KPKP Executing Unit Head, Nur Hikmah explained the 68 kilograms of vegetables harvested today consisted of 10 kilograms of water spinach, 20 kilograms of cucumber, 10 kilograms of Pakcoy, five kilograms of peanuts, eight kilograms of red onions, 10 kilograms of purple eggplant and five kilograms of papaya.

"The rest is to be harvested at another time and can be done at any time," she concluded.

Cipayung Urban Village Head, Yulian Fathiniah uttered that some of the urban farming land was watered using a sprinkler system made by PPSU personnel. Others were watered manually.

"Especially for large areas of land, to make watering easier, we use sprinklers made by PPSU. Thus, the vegetables grow well all the time," she concluded.
