E. Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-agency Harvests 60 Kg of Water Spinach

Water spinach weighing 60 kilograms was successfully harvested from the urban farming land belonging to the East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-agency (Gulkarmat) office, Friday (6/28).

The water spinach harvested today was planted on June 1

East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-agency Head, Muchtar Zakaria who led the harvest stated the kale vegetable harvest is the result of synergy with Rawamangun Urban Village. Some of the harvest was sold and the money was used for agricultural operations, such as buying seeds, fertilizer, and others.

However, some were also distributed to local communities and employees.

"We always synergize with urban villages for urban farming for maximum results because PPSU also helps with maintenance daily," he expressed.

East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-agency's Administration Sub-Section Head, Nur Aini explained that from the 150-square-meter land, there was still water spinach that had not been harvested. If it is harvested, it has the potential to produce 140 kilograms of kale.

"The water spinach harvested today was planted on June 1. Every day, this land is looked after by office cleaning service officers assisted by the PPSU of Rawamangun Urban Village," she explained.

After this harvest, the land would be planted with mustard greens, cauliflower, and cayenne pepper. Previously, his party had also planted eggplant and cayenne pepper but they had been harvested last month.

The harvest received appreciation from Rawamangun Urban Village Head, Heri Kurniawan.

"Apart from education, it can help improve people's welfare," he concluded.
