Kresek Riverbank Being Arranged for Mutual Comfort

Some 250 joint personnel from Koja Sub-district, North Jakarta are seen cleaning and arranging the Kresek riverbanks in RW 02, 04, and 07, Lagoa Urban Village. It is carried out to restore the function of the riverbank as a green belt area.

Koja Sub-district Head, Samsu Rizal Khadafi stated the work involved joint personnel from Satpol PP, SDA Executing Unit, Bina Marga, Environment Sub-agency, Parks and City Forest Sub-agency, PPSU, Transportation Sub-agency, army, police, FKDM, and other elements.

"Including ten operational vehicles and heavy equipment. This action is done to dredge up piles of garbage and wood, including illegal buildings standing atop the riverbank," he expressed, Wednesday (7/17).

Two Months, Kresek Riverbank Arrangement Finished

According to him, it is also an effort to beautify the area. After the buildings are torn down, the riverbank will be planted with plants and will be transformed into an interactive park," he explained.

"By doing so, we hope it can block people who want to occupy the area as an illegal waste disposal site, a residence, and a stall," he explained.

Lagoa Urban Village Head, Suratno Widodo added it was targeted to be completed as soon as possible.

"Previously, it had gone through socialization with residents. As a result, they support our action here," he asserted.

He added the Kresek Riverbank is indeed included in the planning of superior areas in 2024. Hence, residents were expected to work together and commit to protecting this area.

"Hopefully, the place can become a place that is more beautiful, green, and useful according to its function," he hoped.
