The Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) says heads of urban village, sub-district heads and residents to anticipate the potential for ground movement when rainfall is above normal.
Along with high rainfall, there is the potential for landslides to occur
According to information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation (PVMBG), several areas in Jakarta have the potential for ground movement to occur based on the results of the overlay between the land movement vulnerability zone map and the monthly rainfall forecast map obtained from BMKG.
Jakarta BPBD Chairman, Isnawa Aji urged urban village and sub-district heads, as well as residents actively check the condition of their respective areas, especially those close to rivers or where there are cliffs or escarpments.
BPBD Warns of Tidal Wave in North Jakarta from July 16 to 23"Along with high rainfall, there is the potential for landslides to occur. TRC BPBD officers in each urban village together with the urban village and sub-district heads monitor it if there are certain conditions that require handling by both BPBD and related agencies," he expressed, Monday (7/22).
He urged the public to plant trees in vulnerable locations where there is minimal vegetation to prevent the potential danger of landslides. Another precaution is to make independent gabions and sheet piles if the ground is sloping or has the potential to move or shift.
"It can be done independently or collectively by the community to minimize more serious impacts if heavy rain does occur. We're coordinating with the SDA Agency about the technical implementation of the locations that we have mapped in the field. Disaster management must be comprehensive," he explained.
Based on the Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation (PVMBG), several areas in Jakarta are in the Medium Zone with potential for landslides:
1. South Jakarta
- Cilandak, Jagakarsa, Kebayoran Baru, Kebayoran Lama, Mampang Prapatan, Pancoran, Pasar Minggu, Pesanggrahan sub-districts
2. East Jakarta
- Kramatjati and Pasar Rebo sub-districts
In the Intermediate Zone, ground movement can occur if rainfall is above normal, especially in areas bordering river valleys, escarpments, road cliffs or if slopes experience disturbances. Meanwhile, in the High Zone, old ground movements can become active again.
