Traffic Diversion in Place for Motorists at Jalan Yos Sudarso to Ease Congestion

The North Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency is enacting traffic engineering measures on Jalan Yos Sudarso, Plumpang roundabout segment to ease congestion during rush hour in the morning and evening.

North Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency Head, Hendrico Tampubolon said the traffic engineering aims to separate the movement of vehicles from Sunter direction and from Plumpang Toll Road exit which will turn back to the South.

"There are two segments, the first we implemented at the Artha Gading Mall roundabout. Then, it is currently at Plumpang roundabout segment," he expressed, Friday (8/2).

He has urged motorists traveling from the Plumpang Toll Road exit to turn back to the south and not turn around at Plumpang roundabout. They are directed to the North Jakarta Metro Police roundabout. Meanwhile, vehicles from the Sunter direction who will turn back to the south can turn around from the Plumpang roundabout.

"We have installed a movable concrete barrier (MCB) as a barrier for vehicles exiting the Plumpang Toll Road. The MCB that we have installed is more than 200 meters long," he explained.

This traffic engineering would undergo an evaluation stage a month ahead. If it runs well, it will be applied permanently.

"Our hope is it gives the best benefits for the community and can reduce vehicle density in Plumpang," he explained.

Therefore, he urged motorists to avoid the roads and follow the traffic diversion in the field.

The action above received appreciation from one of the motorists, Dwi Triangkasa (30).

"It's good, more effective, thus vehicles from the Plumpang Toll Road exit do not immediately turn around at the Plumpang roundabout. Previously, this route was often congested," he closed.
