Local Additional Food Distribution in Sawah Besar Targets 306 Toddlers

The program of additional food distribution in Sawah Besar Sub-district, which was launched by Central Jakarta Administration at Karang Anyar Flat, RT 02/07, Karang Anyar Urban Village, Tuesday (8/20), is targeting 306 toddlers with underweight case.

Central Jakarta Mayor, Dhany Sukma, said the program held in every sub-districts is aimed to handle stunting by targeting toddlers with underweight case.

Toddlers with stunting, Dhany added, will be referred to hospital for further treatment.

"Our strategy is to provide additional food (PMT) in the form of snacks and heavy meals. The menu is adjusted to the child's age so that it can be absorbed optimally for the growth and development of the child's body and brain," he said.

Not only specific handling, Dhany also reminded the importance of sensitive handling. Therefore, he emphasized the importance of good environmental sanitation and appropriate parenting patterns for children.

"Our commitment is to build the golden generation of 2045. Therefore, from now on, the handling must be appropriate," he added.

Central Jakarta Health Sub-agency Head, Rismasari, explained the handling will be given for 14 days for toddlers with underweight case, from August 20 to September 2, 2024.

Her side will also handle malnourished toddlers in Sawah Besar Sub-district by 41 toddlers.

"The handling will be given for 56 days for malnourished toddlers staring August 20 to October 14," she explained.
