Hanjaba Competition in East Jakarta Attended by 330 Participants

As many as 330 participants participated Jakarta Children's Day Reading Competition (Hanjaba) held by East Jakarta Library and Archive Sub-agency, Tuesday (8/20).

Chairwoman II of Bunda Literacy for Education and Family Economic Strengthening, Linda Kusmanto, said this competition is for students of elementary school, madrasah ibtidaiyah, and junior high school or Madarasah Tsanawiyah. The competition is held from city to province level.

"The activities competed are reading poetry, drawing and coloring, speaking, making comic strips, and giving speeches in Indonesian," Linda said.

According to Linda, the competition held through this competition is a form of appreciation for the movement to foster a love of reading.

Meanwhile, East Jakarta Library and Archive Sub-agency Head, Komiasih, explained the 330 participants are divided into several categories such as drawing and coloring by 103 students of class 1-3 of elementary school.

Then storytelling by 35 students of class 4-6 of elementary school. Indonesian speech by 34 students of class 7-9 of junior high school, comic strips by 104 students of class 7-9 of junior high school, and poetry by 54 students of class 4-6 of elementary school.

"Hanjaba is an annual routine activity to foster interest and passion for reading, writing and telling stories," she added.

The competition is held up to Thursday (8/22). The winners of the competition will receive a certificate and coaching money. Then the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners will take part in the Hanjaba competition at the provincial level.

Prize money for elementary school category first place is Rp 2 million, second Rp 1,750,000 third Rp 1,500,000 first consolation winner Rp 1,250,000 and second consolation winner Rp 1 million.

For junior high school level first place is Rp 3,500,000, second place Rp 3,250,000 and third place Rp 3 million. For first consolation winner Rp 2,750,000 and second consolation winner Rp 2,500,000.
