Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono accompanied by Jakarta Food Security, Maritime, and Agriculture Agency (KPKP) Head, Suharini Eliawati; Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Agency Acting Head, Ika Agustin Ningrum; and East Jakarta Mayor, M Anwar, planted 200 trees and 50 fruit trees, and spread 10,000 tilapia seeds in Batu Bangkong Reservoir, Cipayung, East Jakarta, Monday (8/26).

Jakarta KPKP Agency Head, Suharini Eliawati explained the use of the reservoir as a place where fish could be harvested and become a source of animal protein to fulfill the nutritional needs of the local community.
"While, the land around the reservoir can be planted with shade trees, productive trees, and food crops, such as vegetables and secondary crops. Trees function to maintain environmental sustainability and store groundwater, productive trees for their fruit, while vegetables, and secondary crops (taro, peanuts, corn, etc.) are local food sources," she explained.
Then Jakarta SDA Agency Acting Head, Ika Agustin uttered that in Jakarta, there are about 125 reservoirs with an area of more than 600 hectares. If these reservoirs are used for freshwater fish farming, the results can help meet the fish needs of the surrounding community.
"The area is approximately 13,459 m2, consisting of 7,159 m2 of dry land and 6,300 m2 of wetlands or waters. Fish seeds can be supplied by the KPKP Agency, the community's task is to help maintain the cleanliness of the reservoir so that water quality is maintained, thus fish farming can be sustainable. Hopefully, the available land can be maximized by involving various parties, thus the results can reach a wider community," she said.
