The Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) Jaya once again held the 50th Mohammad Hoesni (MH) Thamrin Journalism Award 2024 at the Pola Room, Grha Ali Sadikin, Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday (8/28).

This award is given as a form of consistency in realizing press freedom, as well as supporting education for the public to always get access to accurate and reliable information.
In his speech, Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono welcomed the holding of the 50th MH Thamrin Journalism Award 2024 as a form of appreciation for the journalistic work of journalists in Jakarta.

Jakarta Diskominfotik's Public Communication Section Head, Koharudin explained the 50th MH Thamrin Journalism Award 2024 is a form of sincere appreciation and the highest appreciation to journalists who have contributed tremendously in conveying information to the wider community. As time goes by, the challenges faced are increasingly complex, but the role of journalists remains irreplaceable.
"Congrats to the winners and the press, not only inspiring but also giving a positive impact to society. Continue to work and give the best for the nation and state," he added.
PWI Jaya Chairman, Kesit B Handoyo uttered that the MH Thamrin Journalism Award has entered its 50th year or golden year which has its own meaning, namely the consistency shown by PWI Jaya together with the Jakarta Provincial Government in giving awards to journalists for the best workaround Jakarta.
"As the fourth pillar of democracy, the media or journalists have an important role in the development of a nation. On a small scale, it is the development of cities including Jakarta as a big city that is a barometer for other cities in Indonesia so it is not surprising that it has become the media's attention," he explained.
He added journalistic works could be seen from various media platforms. Various stories, criticisms, and moments around Jakarta are presented in the best and most prestigious works.
"We would like to express our gratitude to the Acting Governor and his staff who facilitated this activity," he added.
