The women's team athletes in the Artistic Gymnastics sport successfully won the first gold for Jakarta Province at the XXI National Sports Week (PON), Aceh - North Sumatra, Wednesday (8/28) afternoon.

The Women's Artistic Gymnastics Team with a quartet consisting of Ameera Rahmajanny, Trithalia, Nadia Indah Amalia, and Alarice Mallica managed to achieve the best score, beating the East Java and South Sulawesi contingents and bringing home the first gold medal for the Jakarta Province.

The Jakarta Artistic Gymnastics Team coach, Eva Butar Butar, admitted that she was quite surprised that her team managed to win a gold medal.

It is because the results of the jury's assessment for the four compulsory events, namely vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor which were held in the morning, the Jakarta women's team was far behind East Java.

After getting motivation, the spirit of the four Jakarta Gymnastics athletes rose and they managed to perform impressively in the afternoon assessment session.

"I am very grateful, the jury decided that the Jakarta women's team in the Artistic Gymnastics branch received the gold medal even though it was not reinforced by its mainstay gymnast, Rifda Irfanaluthfi, who was injured at the 2024 Olympics in Paris," she said, Thursday (8/29).

Meanwhile, the Chief de Mission (CdM) of the PON XXI Jakarta Contingent, Fatchul Anas, is grateful and happy for the success of winning the gold medal.

"We are very grateful, express our appreciation and thanks for the struggle of the athletes who have contributed the first gold medal for the Jakarta contingent," he said.

The Chairman of the Jakarta Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI), Hidayat Humaid said, winning the first gold medal from the Women's Team Artistic Gymnastics branch is the momentum to win the next medal to lead Jakarta to become the General Champion of PON XXI.

"This first gold medal is something to be grateful for. I am proud to see the struggle and sincerity of Jakarta athletes to achieve the best achievements," he said.
