Anwar Inspects Revitalization of Kaja Reservoir

East Jakarta Mayor, Muhammad Anwar and his staff inspected the revitalization of Kaja Reservoir on Jalan Raya Ciracas, Kelapa Dua Wetan, Ciracas, Tuesday (9/3).

Besides the mayor, there were also City Secretary, Kusmanto; Ciracas Sub-district Head, Yus Wil Rasyid; Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency Head, Abdul Rauf; and other officials. They went around the reservoir as wide as 8,300 square meters to see the progress of the work.

According to him, the revitalization was conducted by elevating the sheet pile in a bid to make the reservoir accommodate water in large quantities to prevent flooding at a later date.

Its elevation was done, as the reservoir position was lower than Cipinang River and caused water overflow.

"This sheet pile is elevated to one meter to accommodate more water," he explained.

East Jakarta SDA Sub-agency Acting Head, Abdul Rauf added the revitalization has been ongoing since July and is targeted for completion in November 2024. It emphasizes green building, thus it pays more attention to the environmental biota to make it comfortable for residents' activities and interactions.

"Hopefully, this reservoir can reduce flooding and become a tour destination for locals," he hoped.

His party also installed a filter at the inlet, thus waste from residential channels would not enter the reservoir.

"This reservoir is capable of accommodating water up to 3,300 cubic meters and is expected to minimize flooding," he added.

RW 11 Kelapa Dua Wetan Chairman, Suparwo Abdullah uttered that the reservoir is a source of water collection during the rainy season and also serves as a reserve of raw water during the dry season.

"The Kaja Reservoir can handle flooding in RT 001," he closed.
