The Indonesian Publishers Association (IKAPI) holds the 44th Indonesia International Book Fair (IIBF) at Cendrawasih Hall Jakarta Convention Center, Senayan, Central Jakarta.
IIBF supports publishers and authors to gain attention
The event was launched by Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy's Marketing Deputy, Ni Made Ayu Marthini. IIBF will be held from 25 to 29 September, 2024 with theme "Celebrate Reading and Beyond".
IIBF 2022 at JICC Attracts Many Book LoversThe theme carried is meaningful to invite everyone to rejoice in reading. So, it can foster a habit of exploring written works.
Ni Made Ayu appreciates the IIBF implementation since it is appropriate with the government's mandate as stated in Government Regulation No 24/2022 about Intellectual Property-Based Marketing.
"Hopefully this event will continue and develop. The ministry will support and invite all stakeholders to participate so that the event continues to exist," she said, Wednesday (9/25).
IIBF 2024 Chairman, Wedha Startesti Yudha, stated the exhibition is important activity for the publishing industry since the offer promotion opportunities, networking, and inviting reader and community involvement.
"IIBF supports publishers and authors to gain attention, become an important link between creative industries, and grow reading habit," he stated.
Meanwhile, IKAPI Chairman, Arys Hilman Nugraha, explained books are the key to civilization and progress that deserve an honorable place.
This year IIBF implementation connects books and various other platforms. One of them is making film from book.
"Reading literacy can spread to anything and to anyone since there is a connection between creative platforms, music, film and animation. This can also be both experience and tourism industries," he explained.
According to him, Indonesia has a society with a high literacy rate b more than 96 percent. If the community also has access to reading materials, reading performance and literacy index will grow.
As for information, IIBF firstly held in 1980. It becomes the oldest book exhibition in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
