3,260 Cubic Meters of Mud Cleaned from Bokor River

As many as 3,260 cubic meters of mud and trash were removed from the Bokor River on Jalan Raya Cilincing, Kalibaru Urban Village, Cilincing Sub-district, North Jakarta.

North Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency Head, Ahmad Saipul said mud and trash caused the Bokor River to become shallow, making it prone to triggering puddles and flooding due to its decreasing capacity.
"When it rains, the water in the Bokor River often overflows and inundates several areas, especially in RW 07, Kalibaru Urban Village," he expressed, Wednesday (10/2).

"In overall, the progress has reached 30 percent," he explained.
He added the dredging was adjusted to the thickness of the mud at each location, namely from 1.5 meters to two meters deep.
"Mud and trash collected was dumped at the Ancol PLTU dumping site," he added.
It has been ongoing since August 20, 2024, and involves 15 personnel, four amphibious excavators, and five dump trucks to transport mud.
"It is targeted for completion on December 30. Hopefully, it can prevent puddles and flooding," he hoped.
He urged the public to maintain cleanliness by not throwing trash into micro and macro channels.
"If there is shallowing and blockage which results in flooding, we are the ones who suffer the loss," he uttered.
Kalibaru Urban Village Head, Rusmin added residents also expressed their aspirations regarding the need to elevate the Bokor River's sheet pile.
"Hopefully, it can effectively minimize flooding in our zone," he hoped.
