Acting Governor Teguh Invites MUI and Islamic Mass Organizations to Play an Active Role in Jakarta's Development

Acting Jakarta Governor, Teguh Setyabudi attended the gathering of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of Jakarta and Islamic Community Organization throughout Jakarta, at the Muhammadiyah Regional Management Office, Salemba, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (10/29).

Teguh said that Jakarta Provincial Government invites various community organizations and institutions, including the MUI and Islamic mass organizations to play an active role in the sustainable development of Jakarta as the city is currently preparing to transform into a national economic center and a global city.
"Jakarta still has the status of DKI. The Law (UU) on DKJ already exists but the still awaits for implementation. MUI, mass organization and all element of society must prepare to face this transition period as Jakarta will transform into a global city," Teguh said, as quoted from Jakarta Provincial Government's press release.

The government can not carry out development program plans without involving various parties, including the ulama. That is why synergy between ulama and government must be well established.
"I am very grateful to be able to attend the gathering with the MUI and the ranks of Islamic mass organizations in Jakarta. The next gathering an be held at the Jakarta City Hall. I am very happy to listen to the ulama input in carrying out my duties," Teguh added.
Teguh also reminded that Jakarta will hold Regional Head Election (Pilkada) on November 27, 2024. All society elements, including MUI and Islamic mass organizations support is needed to maintain harmony for the sake of conducive situation in Jakarta.
Meanwhile, General Chairman of Jakarta MUI, KH Muhammad Faiz Syukron Makmun, said that silaturahmi is a good tradition. This tradition can strengthen closeness, togetherness, unity, and solidarity between the government and the ulama.
"I expect better cooperation with Jakarta Provincial Government so that Jakarta Provincial Government ranks have the same perception with us that Jakarta development must be balanced," he stated.
