Citizens Asked to Actively Participate Report Waste Offender

Though city administration has applied maximal fine worth until Rp 500 thousand for waste offenders, but in fact the citizen awareness not littering seemingly are still low. 

We cannot monitor it, therefore we do hope for road user to actively participate whenever see someone littering th ey can take a picture of it

As the case in Central Jakarta precisely around Jatibaru Flyover, Tanah Abang, everyday the citizens throw waste carelessly. As a result those piles up waste caused rotten scent and annoyed the road user. As a solution, the residents were asked to actively participate report whose like littering in that location.

Johar Baru TPS Cleaned by Residents

Central Jakarta Cleanliness Sub-Department, Marsigit stated, his side deployed janitor to clean waste, but in the afternoon waste return to exist in such location.

“We cannot monitor it, therefore we do hope for road user to actively participate whenever see offenders, they can take a picture of it, upload to mass media or social media, like so we can easily to crack down on it,” he said, Thursday (5/14).

For those citizens whose littering are urged to follow judgement in Central Jakarta district court and imposed sanction in accordance with bylaw No.3/2013 regarding waste management.

The socialization was done by putting the ban and the sanction warning words in the janitor’s uniform. According to Marsigit it ease them to tell the citizens.

“Actually, warning board had already installed, even not in everywhere, by putting the warning in janitor’s uniform we hoped citizens could see it clearly,” he disclosed.
