Jakarta City Council's Commission D Chairwoman, Yuke Yurike, appealed the residents to intensify communal work by cleaning the environment as one of efforts preventing inundation and flood due to rainy season.

Yuke is optimistic that collaboration between resident and Jakarta Provincial Government will be able to increase the effort preventing disaster. It means the rainy season impact can be minimized well.
She added that Jakarta Provincial Government through the related Regional Apparatus Organization (OPD)s to immediately take preventive measures in minimizing the flooding and inundation risk. One of her concerns is the acceleration of normalization and naturalization of rivers and water channels.
"In addition, cleaning of drainage channels, culverts and reservoirs must be carried out routinely to ensure there are no blockages that could worsen flooding," she added.
Yurike requested Jakarta Provincial Government to make sure the flood handling infrastructures readiness such as pump house, mobile pump, and so on.
"The flood handling anticipation must be taken immediately," she stated.
