Fire in Papanggo Kills Four People

An electrical short circuit is suspected to be the trigger for the fire in the residential area on Jalan Papanggo 3B, RT 12/05, Papanggo Urban Village, Tanjung Priok Sub-district, North Jakarta, Friday (11/8) early this morning.

North Jakarta and Seribu Islands Fire and Rescue Sub-agency Head, Rahmat Kristantio stated his party received a fire report at 1.41 AM from residents who came to report to the Papanggo Fire Post.

Fire and Rescue Operational Section Head, Gatot Sulaeman explained the fire was triggered by an electrical short circuit. Then the fire grew and spread to another building in the vicinity.
As a result, one house and two rented houses were burned down and a family consisting of four people died.
"The victims were in a room on the second floor. They wanted to jump out but the fire had gotten bigger and they were trapped," he closed.
