650 Firefighter Volunteers Take Part in Agility Competition

A total of 650 firefighter volunteers (Redkar) participate in agility competition held by South Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-agency.

Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Agency Head, Satriadi Gunawan, said the competition is held to build community preparedness for fire disaster.

"The volunteers have been given training to assist early fire handling in their environment," he said, Tuesday (10/29).

He added that the winner will participate in similar competition in province level.

Meanwhile, South Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-agency Head, Syamsul Huda, explained the competition participated by 650 volunteers across 65 urban villages in South Jakarta is held up to October 31, 2024.

All participants had received training from the Gulkarmat Taskforce before taking part in competition. It is aimed to increase their knowledge and skill in overcoming the two challenges given in the competition. Those are extinguishing fires using a light fire extinguisher (APAR) and a portable pump.

"Hopefully the participants are careful with the competed materials and do not forget the stages," he stated.
