E. Jakarta Health Sub-agency Intensifies TB Prevention Efforts

The East Jakarta Health Sub-agency is massively promoting prevention of the spread of tuberculosis (TB) by campaigning for clean and healthy lifestyles among the community and encouraging Karang Taruna younger generation to become TB ambassadors.

East Jakarta Heatlh Sub-agency Head, Herwin Meifendy said his party involved the community to intensify the TOS (find, treat until cured) movement in preventing the spread of TB.

He explained TB disease is one of the contagious and deadly types. The transmission can be through air or breathing and droplets. However, it can also be treated and cured because the trigger is germs or bacteria.

"It attacks all ages and has existed since the time of the Pharaohs," he explained.

He added the health centers also have a role in the TB control program by organizing and coordinating promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative efforts in all health service facilities (Fasyankes) in their working areas.

Then ensure that all health facilities are involved in the TB service network, and ensure that TB patients domiciled in their work area receive TB management according to standards.

To actively find TB cases, there must be collaboration with community organizations, cadres, school health services (UKS), companies, and other potential agencies or organizations.

"To prevent and control it, we encourage the community to implement PHBS. We also strengthen collaboration between sectors," he closed.
