Jakarta DPRD Commission A Member, Heri Kustanto wants the Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) to increase the number of tents for female refugees, especially pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.
There is input from the community regarding tents for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers
According to him, the proposal was based on the aspirations of the community that emerged during the recess activities he held.
"There is input from the community regarding tents for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. That should also be prioritized," he expressed, at City Council Building, Friday (11/15).
DPRD Commission A Wants to Intensify Education on the Use of APARSo far, the availability of tents for disaster refugees, especially women, has been lacking, including assistance for children's needs such as toddler milk and others.
He also asked them to provide other facilities needed by refugees such as Bathing, Washing and Toilets (MCK). His party also pushed the addition of rubber boats to help handle flood-affected residents.
"If there is a flood, it is more important to add rubber boats," he explained.
Commission A Chairperson, Inad Luciawati instructed the BPBD to increase the availability of rubber boats and emergency tents, especially in flood-prone areas. The size of the boat was also reminded to be adjusted to local conditions.
"Also provide socialization on how to use rubber boats properly, thus they are ready to face flood disasters," she continued.
He also proposed that BPBD form disaster volunteers in each RW so that disaster management can be faster. In addition, BPBD is deemed to need to make intensive communication and coordination with BMKG. Thus, anticipatory preparation for facing disasters can be done more optimally.
Then another member, Muhammad Hasan Abdillah, appreciated the quick steps taken by the BPBD which had made anticipatory preparations to face disasters in the rainy season at the end of this year.
He explained they had alerted 267 officers to be deployed in each urban village, so that disaster management could be conducted more quickly.
"We see that BPBD has made a lot of preparations for this rainy season," he explained.
He added the officers who were on standby would later be able to check the condition of the facilities and infrastructure that had been placed in flood-prone sub-districts, such as refugee tents, boats, life jackets, and others.
He also reminded BPBD to conduct data collection on flood-prone areas and coordinate with BMKG to monitor current weather conditions and potential rain. Thus, they could conduct weather modification operations effectively.
"This weather modification operation is not only carried out in Jakarta, but also in the surrounding areas that have the potential to cause flooding, such as Bogor and Depok. Because the headwaters of various rivers in Jakarta are from these areas," he explained.
He also proposed that they could collaborate with environmental and disaster-focused communities. Among them is the Disaster Risk Reduction Forum (PRB) which consists of institutions and organizations engaged in disaster management across sectors.
