20 PPSU Personnel Clean Post-Flood Waste in Kampung Melayu

As many as 20 PPSU personnel were deployed to clean post-flood waste at RW 04, 05, 07, and 08 of Kampung Melayu Urban Village, Jatinegara, East Jakarta, Friday (11/29). Currently, the mud can not be sprayed because there is still standing water on the banks of the Ciliwung River.

We wait until it dries fully

The orange personnel cleaned and transported garbage carried by the flood and stuck in every alley of the residents' settlements. All the garbage was transported using carts to be collected next to the urban village office. Furthermore, it was disposed of at the temporary waste disposal site (TPS) of Cipinang Besar Selatan Urban Village, Jalan Basuki Rahmat.

Kampung Melayu Urban Village's Economy and Development Section Head, Yulia Krisna said four RWs impacted by the flood yesterday, now recedes.

"PPSU personnel only assist cleaning the waste. The spraying can not be run since there is standing water on riverbank," she said.

Yulia added there is still standing water by 10-15 cm in riverbank. But flood at RT 13 RW 04 and RT 11 RW 05 has fully receded.

She admitted Gulkarmat personnel can not spray the mud because they were worried that the water would flow back to settlement.

"We wait until it dries fully," Yulia added.

One of PPSU personnel, Ali explained the trash scattered in the corner of the alley varies. Starting from wood, bamboo, blocks, plastic, cardboard and so on.

"We collect 10 cubics up to 11 AM. It will increase since the personnel are still cleaning the area," he explained.
