Jakarta City Council's Commission D Chairwoman, Yuke Yurike supports Jakarta Provincial Government's effort in optimizing flood handling and prevention.

Yuke said that flood prevention must also be cooperated with local governments in the upstream areas of Jakarta.

Yuke explained the effectivity of Ciawi and Sukamahi Dam should has important function to manage water debit of Ciliwung River entering Jakarta.
"Another dam should be added if the existence is yet optimal. This could be in Depok since the area is close to Jakarta," she explained.
Yuke appeals Jakarta Regional Disaster Handling Agency (BPBD) together with regional working units to optimize early warning system to residents living in riverbank when the rainwater is high.
"EWS is important to minimize material and life lost because of flood," she added.
She hopes the flood handling due to rob, upstream flood, and local rainfall can be completed soon.
"We support the efforts from the budget needs as there are still things that need to be done or are in process. Micro and macro channels must also be optimized," she stated.
