Commission A Vice Chair Supports WFH Policy During Floods

Jakarta DPRD Commission A Vice Chairwoman, Alia Noorayu Laksono, positively welcome the Jakarta Government's plan to issue a circular leeter about work from home (WFH) when flooding occurs on weekdays.

According to her, the policy is an anticipatory and appropriate step in responding to predictions of extreme weather until December 15, 2024,in the Greater Jakarta area.

She asserted that the plan must be executed with thorough preparation so that everything goes well and effectively.

She also suggested paying attention to groups of people who cannot work from home, such as workers in essential sectors.

"There needs to be a specific solution to ensure they can continue to work safely," she explained.

She expressed her appreciation to Acting Governor Teguh Setyabudi, who had provided direction to anticipate the impact of extreme weather to all his staff.

"I also support his direction to the related agencies to anticipate extreme weather," she continued.

She hoped that mitigation measures such as optimizing water pumps, increasing drainage capacity, and educating the public about flood risks could run comprehensively.

"Through synergy and collaboration of all parties, it can minimize the impact of extreme weather for the comfort of residents," she added.

As for the information, the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) extended the early warning status for extreme weather until December 15 considering the high rainfall in the Greater Jakarta area.

According to BMKG, at the peak of extreme weather on December 15, rainfall could reach 100 mm, so it needs to be watched out for.
