BPBD Departs 45 Personnel and Supporting Infrastructures in Flood-prone Areas

East Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) has deployed 45 personnel and supporting infrastructure units on alert to anticipate flooding.

East Jakarta BPBD Task Force Head, Sukendar stated his personnel have been on standby since Monday (12/16) until early January 2025. They will monitor the conditions of areas prone to flooding or inundation.

He explained there were five urban villages along Ciliwung Riverbank that were the focus of his staff's attention. Those villages were Balekambang, Cililitan, Bidaracina, Kampung Melayu, and Cawang where each had three personnel.

"We also prepare infrastructures in flood-prone areas for quick coordination with stakeholders," he continued.

They consisted of eight rubber boats type Landing Craft Rubber Boat (LCR), 63 boats made of polyethylene plastic, two jerrycan boats, and two aluminum boats.

Then 140 units of paddles, 27 units of refugee tents, seven units of post tents, 18 units of life jackets, 14 units of life jackets, and 160 units of ring buoys. All of these supporting infrastructures had been distributed to the sub-districts, and the amount was adjusted to the level of vulnerability in the field.

"We also have been operating an early warning system/EWS at 32 flood-prone areas," he stated.
