BPBD DKI Kembali Gelar Operasi Modifikasi Cuaca

BPBD Again Holds Weather Modification Operations

The Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) is again holding weather modification operations (OMC). It will be running for four days, starting from Friday (12/13) to Monday (12/16).

To hold this OMC, we'd discussed it with BMKG, Basarnas and related SKPD

Jakarta BPBD Acting Secretary, Marulitua Sijabat stated this second OMC is following up on the BMKG weather forecast. Predictably, the intensity of rainfall in Jakarta during the next four days will be very high.

"To hold this OMC, we'd discussed it with BMKG, Basarnas and related SKPD," he expressed, Friday (12/13)

He hoped that it could reduce the intensity of rain in Jakarta, thereby minimizing the impact of disasters from heavy rain that falls over a long period of time.

Control and Operations Subgroup Chair, Muhamad Thoufiq Hidayatuloh explained OMC this time is the same with the previous in which the post would be set up at Budiarto Curug Airport, Banten.

It would start with seeding or sowing salt into the cloud. On the first day, there would be three flight missions around northwest Jakarta to around Seribu Islands at an altitude of between 9,000 feet to 11,000 feet above sea level.

"Since morning until this afternoon, we have only done one mission. The technicalities will be adjusted to the results of the BMKG forecast and monitoring," he uttered.
