Christmas and New Year, Commodity Supply at Kramat Jati Market is Safe

Acting Jakarta Governor, Teguh Setyabudi announces commodity supplies at Kramat Jati Main Market, East Jakarta, ahead of Christmas and New Year 2024 are safe and controlled.

The stock is still sufficient

"How are the prices now, sir? Have there been any increases or not?," he stated when he did a sudden inspection (sidak) in several markets in East Jakarta, Thursday (12/19).

According to him, prices of several commodities were expensive, such as chilies and red onions. However, supply was still relatively safe and smooth.

He explained the price hike on chili and red onion was due to low stock or supply from the region.

"The stock is still sufficient, because many supplier areas are currently harvesting," he explained.

He added the sidak involved the ranks of National Food Agency, Bank Indonesia, and Bulog which aimed at ensuring the availability of supply and price stability of strategic food ahead of Christmas and New Year.

He added the Jakarta Provincial Government and PPID regularly made efforts to control regional inflation through 4K strategy (maintaining price affordability, supply availability, smooth distribution and effective communication).

Kramat Jati Main Market Manager, Agus Lamun explained the price of curly red chilies rose by a thousand rupiah from Rp 27,000 to Rp 28,000 per kilogram. However, the supply is deemed safe at 26 tons.

Then big-sized red chilies TW by Rp 32,000/kg increased by Rp 2,000 to Rp 32,000 per kilogram, with a supply of six tons.

For red cayenne pepper by Rp 30,000 per kilogram has increased by Rp 1,000 from the previous price. Its supply at Kramat Jati Market is 28 tons.

Further, red onion increased from Rp 26,000 to Rp 27,000 per kilogram. The supply reaches 80 tons per day

"Generally, the price increase is not too significant. Because, the supply is sufficient," he stated.
