Acting Governor Monitors Food Stock at Kramat Jati and Cipinang Markets

Acting Jakarta Governor, Teguh Setyabudi together with regional apparatuses and Regional Inflation Handling Team (TPID) monitored the food stock ahead of Christmas 2024 and New year 2025 at Kramat Jati Market and Rice Plant Cipinang (RPC) PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya, Thursday (12/19).

Teguh said his side and TPID are regularly handling the regional inflation in Jakarta through 4K.

"4K strategy that has been run included Affordability, Availability of supply, Smooth distribution and Effective communication," he said.

Christmas and New Year, Commodity Supply at Kramat Jati Market is Safe

He added that Jakarta inflation rate in November 2024 was 0.29 percent (MoM) or lower compared to national inflation by 0.30 percent. Then yearly inflation in Jakarta is 1.58 percent (yoy) and 1.50 percent based on year calendar.

"Several main commodities as monthly inflation sufferer in Jakarta are red onion, tomato, gold jewelry, chicken, and cooking oil. As the yearly commodities are gold jewelry, rice, cookies, cooking oil, rent house and household assistant wages," he added.

Based on the monitoring result at Kramat Jati Market, chili price increases due to extreme weather in producer areas.

"The price is significantly increasing, but the stocks are remain safe . It also happens to red onion," he continued.

Then based on monitoring result at RPC PT Food Tjipinang Jaya, rice stock is remain safe even though the price increases Rp 50 per kilogram.

"The stocks of cooking oil, egg, chicken and beef are also safe. I also appealed entrepreneurs to cooperate with Jakarta Provincial Government related to stock and price stabilization," he added.

Teguh explained that Jakarta Provincial Government also run several efforts in stabilizing stock and price of food ahead of Christmas and New Year.

The efforts were routinely monitoring food stock and price by Regional Working Unit and food-based BUMD and food taskforce.

Then providing cheap bazaar by involving food-based BUMN and BUMD of Jakarta that were held at Jakarta Provincial agency office, flats, RPTRA, and so on. The events were held by 22 days at 111 location in December.

Also ensuring the fresh food safety circulated in Jakarta through integrated food safety supervision and the fulfillment of storage warehouse at Jakarta's food-based BUMD such as PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya, Perumda Dharma Jaya and Perumda Pasar Jaya.

"We also conducted monitoring through routine meeting to discuss the strategic food price and stock development," Teguh continued.

Effective communication was also provided to avoid panic buying or hoarding goods, and synergized with Central Government, Food Taskforce and Jakarta Provincial Government's TPID in implementing inflation control activities.

"Food based BUMD also cooperates with other regions to ensure the stock and distribution of strategic commodities," he said.

Moreover, Jakarta Provincial Government also intensifying the use of empty land for urban farming in order to fulfill resident's food needs.

"Jakarta Provincial Government appreciates the TPID, Food Taskforce and all related stakeholder for running all efforts to ensure commodities stock and price, as well as handling the inflation," Teguh stated.

Meanwhile, PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya Director, Karyawan Gunarso makes sure the rice stock is safe for the next months.

"Today's rice stock is 70,500 ton. It is enough for two or three months ahead," he said.

In order to meet and maintain safe stock until Ramadan and Eid 2025, his party has also cooperated with farmers, farmer groups and mills related with rice purchase.

"More rice will come and add our stock up to Eid 2025," he explained.
