City - GPIB Plants Trees and Releases Fish in Brigif Reservoir Area

The Jakarta Provincial Government together with the Western Indonesia Protestant Church (GPIB), planted trees and released fish seeds in the Brigif Reservoir area, Cipedak Urban Village, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta.

This will have a positive impact on locals

Jakarta Regional Cooperation Bureau Head, Marulina Dewi said today's activity aimed at adding green open space in Jakarta and maintaining environmental food security.

"As we know, the Jakarta Government's current target is to create 30 percent of Jakarta's area as green open space. We're very enthusiastic and welcome a greener Jakarta and healthy air," she expressed, Friday (12/20).

City Council Chairman Wants Tree Planting to Be Intensified

"We plant 100 bay trees from GPIB and release 10,000 seeds of Tilapia and Tawes fishes from South Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency," she continued.

"Hope it can improve green open space and reduce carbon emissions in Jakarta," he hoped.

The action above received appreciation from South Jakarta Economy and Development Assistant, Sayid Ali.

"This will have a positive impact on locals, either in terms of air quality or food security," he explained.

The same statement also came from GPIB's Church Religion and Environment Sector Chair, Pastor Manuel Raintung.

"This is our first step together with the Jakarta Government in creating a good living environment. Hope this collaboration will continue at provincial and city levels," he stated.
