Acting Governor Teguh Inaugurates Sub-district Offices and Embung in S. Jakarta

Acting Jakarta Governor, Teguh Setyabudi symbolically inaugurated several infrastructure projects in South Jakarta, precisely at Mampang Prapatan Sub-district Office, Monday (12/23).

Those infrastructure projects inaugurated were Mampang Prapatan Sub-district Office; Pemuda I Embung (artificial lake); Srengseng Sawah Urban Village; Embung at SDN 01 Petukangan Selatan; and Bukit Duri Pump Command Center.

He appreciated the support of all parties, including South Jakarta Mayor, Munjirin, as well as Jakarta DPD and DPRD members who had realized this development. The construction of Mampang Prapatan Sub-district Office was expected to be able to improve public service.

"As the Mayos said, this office has a very important and strategic role ," he expressed.

He explained the relocation of this sub-district office was a must considering it was built in the flood-prone area and densely populated area. As a result, the office service was unoptimal.

This office was built on a 2,600-square-meter-wide land with with a height of five floors. It is completed with lift and air conditioning.

"Hopefully, the office building will be much better, more complete and magnificent, including its public services which can also be improved," he explained.

It must also be accompanied by maintenance, thus it can be well maintained.

As for the construction of Embung and Bukit Duri Pump Command Centre, it was done to prevent flooding maximally. They were important to support macro channels that are still unable to hold water when it rains.

"The supporting channels are only capable of around 100 millimeters per day, more than that the flooding or puddles last longer. We must maximize and continue to build," he explained.

To anticipate flooding, the Jakarta Government has been modifying the weather since early December, to manage extreme weather.

South Jakarta Mayor, Munjirin added the Mampang Prapatan Sub-district Office was built, as the existing office was in a flood-prone area. When it rained, access to the office was often flooded with a height of around 40-90 centimeters.

Aside that, the previous office was in a densely populated area thus services were disrupted.

"Then access to Jalan Mampang Prapatan 13 is a dead end that can only be passed by one car or motorbike. If passed by two vehicles, the road will experience obstacles," he explained.

He also explained the construction of the Pemuda I Embung in Srengseng Sawah Urban Village and the Embung at SDN 01 Petukangan Selatan conducted by the South Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency.

It has an effective reservoir volume of 13,440.52 cubic meters which can reduce flood volume by eight percent. Then the Embung at SDN 01 Petukangan Selatan was built on a 2,062-square-meter-wide land with 2.6 meters deep.

Lastly, the Bukit Duri Pump Command Center, it is a solution to overcome problems that occurred in the operational process.
