Acting Jakarta Governor of Jakarta, Teguh Setyabudi, visited several churches in Jakarta, Tuesday (12/24) night.

Christmas will be conducive

It was done together with Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Pratikno; Coordinating Minister for Political and Security, Budi Gunawan; Religious Minister, Nasaruddin Umar; National Police Chief, Gen. Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo; and TNI Commander General, Agus Subiyanto.

As quoted by Beritajakarta.id, the visit was to ensure that this year's Christmas service ran smoothly, safely, and conducively at Jakarta Cathedral Church, Samanhudi Church, and GPIB Immanuel.

Teguh stated the Christmas celebrations must run smoothly, peacefully, full of joy, and bring goodness to society.

"Christmas will be conducive, and public security and order will be maintained," he expressed.

He explained the Jakarta administration and the central government had also conducted monitoring to ensure the smooth running of the Christmas celebrations.

"Everything has to run smoothly," he explained.

To foster tolerance between religious communities, the Jakarta administration made good relations with the Religious Harmony Forum, Church Forum, and also other religious forums.

"Until now, there have been no reports of rejection of worship in Jakarta," he uttered.

He added Jakarta is a province that has good tolerance and can make everyone feel comfortable and safe. "Make all residents happy, regardless of their religion and ethnicity," he said.
