Social Agency Distributed 2,597 Physical Aids in 2024

Jakarta Social Agency distributed 2,597 physical aids for people with disability in 2024. The distribution aimed to give better life and support their mobility.

The physical aids were 1,781 adult wheelchairs, 145 children's wheelchairs, 40 prosthetic legs, 510 hearing aids, 44 walker canes and 77 tripod canes.

Jakarta Social Agency Head, Premi lasari hopes the physical aids can give better life for people with disability in Jakarta.

"Hopefully they can have better mobility, better independence in daily life, and reduce dependence on other people," she said, Thursday (1/2).

The agency also collaborated with many side in distributing the aids such as Jakarta Baznas Bazis with its 40 units of adult wheelchair, KOICA, KOSA and WFK with their 200 units of electric blind stick, and Yayasan Peduli Tuna Daksa with its 10 pairs of AFO shoe and three prosthetics.

Moreover, Yayasan WAFCAI also gave two children's wheelchairs and Yayasan LAYAK gave six units of glasses.

Premi added that Jakarta can be built as a more inclusive city through the distribution of physical assistive devices. It means people with disabilities have equal and fair access to participate in various social life aspects.

As for information, residents are able to propose similar aids by preparing documents such as Certificate of Poverty (SKTM) or PM1, photocopy of ID card or KIA (for children under 17 years of age), photocopy of Family Card (KK) and full body photo.

Those documents are then submitted to several channels such as urban village through Social Assistance Officer (Pendamsos), sub-district through Social Implementer Unit Head, Administration's Social Sub-agency through Section of Social Security Protection and Social Rehabilitation, or directly to Social Agency' Subgroup of Social Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities.
