Jakarta City Council Chairman, Khoirudin is optimistic that Jakarta's future will be still brighter without capital city status. He projected that the Jakarta Regional Revenue (PAD) will remain be increasing.
15 central affairs are handed over to Jakarta
With the ratification of Law No 2/2024 about the Special Region of Jakarta, Khoirudin said, previous 15 affairs managed by central government will be Jakarta's special authority as mentioned in Chapter 19.

Major opportunities to be obtained are Jakarta's authority in managing investment or capital investment, maritime affairs, education, employment, and up to the environment.
"The authority to make decisions, provide policies for the good of residents is in Jakarta's hands. The bureaucracy is getting easier without submitting it to central government," he added.
The Seribu Islands National Park, he gave example, was in the hands of the central government.
"The private needs to get license from the central government before utilize the area," he continued.
Khoirudin said that services for community can be improved with the increase of Jakarta's PAD.
"We can get additional revenues from 15 central government's affairs handed over to Jakarta," he added.
He then appealed the Jakarta Provincial Government to prepare regulation needed to manage those 15 central affairs.
Moreover, cooperation with various parties, including academics, is needed to formulate clear standards and criteria in providing regulations.
