Jakarta General Election Commission (KPU) held Open Plenary Meeting to Determine the Elected Candidate Pair for the Election of Governor and Deputy Governor of the Special Region of Jakarta 2024-2029 at Pullman Hotel, Jakarta Central Park, Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta, Thursday (1/9).

The meeting was attended by Acting Jakarta Governor, Teguh Setyabudi; KPU Member, Yulianto Sudrajat; Deputy Chairman of Commission II of the DPR, Arya Bima and representatives of the supporting political parties and three pairs of candidates for Governor and Vice Governor.

During his speech, Acting Jakarta Governor, Teguh Setyabudi appreciated the KPU, Bawaslu, and DKPP for implementing smooth regional head election in Jakarta. Teguh also appreciated all parties who had worked hard to organize this regional election honestly, fairly, transparently and with integrity.

"We also appreciate the three pairs of Governor and Vice Governor Candidates, supporting teams, and community for providing safe, orderly, conducive and dignified regional election. Hopefully it can be a role model for the implementation of democracy in Indonesia," Teguh said, Thursday (1/9).

Teguh also congratulated the elected Jakarta Governor and Vice Governor.

"This mandate is a great responsibility since it must be run fully with dedication and integrity. Continuation and improvisation of development to realize Jakarta as an incusive, liveable, equitable and sustainable global city are hopes of Jakarta residents under the new leadership of elected Governor and Vice Governor," he added.

He continued that the success of Jakarta's future development is not rely on Governor and Vice Governor. It also needs synergy between regional and central government, residents and all stakeholder.

For this reason, Teguh invites all community elements to support the new leadership, re-knitting unity to jointly bring Jakarta towards a better future.

He also invited all parties to maintain a conducive atmosphere in Jakarta, strengthen the spirit of tolerance and maintain harmony amidst diversity.

" Jakarta is an example of the success of democracy for other cities in Indonesia

Meanwhile, Jakarta City Council Chairman, Khoirudin stated regional election is a real manifestation of democracy that has been built and maintained together. It is not only about who wins or loses, but the spirit of maintaining the integrity and togetherness as citizens of Jakarta.

"Surely I appreciate the Jakarta KPU and Bawaslu performances for ensuring the smooth implementation. Congratulation to the elected Jakarta Governor and Vice Governor, Pramono Anung - Rano Karno," he stated.

He added that Jakarta as the nation's capital has complex challenges ranging from transportation, environmental, economic and social problems.

"Jakarta City Council is ready to cooperate with the elected Jakarta Governor and Vice Governor to realize the vision and mission that have been conveyed during the campaign period. We hope that the elected pair can bring progress to Jakarta," he said.
