Fire Broke Out at Glodok Plaza, Firefighters Cool Down the Building Periodically

Fire broke out at Glodok Plaza, Mangga Besar, Taman Sari Sub-district, West Jakarta on Wednesday (1/15) night, at 21.33 WIB.

"The process of search and monitoring the building's condition is still underway,"

The fire allegedly broke out on the seventh floor and spread to the eight and ninth floors. Firefighters were still working on extinguishing the fire and cooling the building periodically until Thursday (1/16).

Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Head, Isnawa Adji mentioned, the joint team managed to evacuate eight workers who were trapped inside the building and are now receiving treatment.

"Besides, there are several families reported their missing family members to the tactical post at the location," he added, Thursday (1/16).

The cause of fire is still under investigation and data on material loses in this incident is still being recorded. Various parties, including Gulkarmat with 44 fire trucks, TNI, Police, BPBD, PMI, and volunteers were deployed to handle this situation.

"The process of search and monitoring the building's condition is still underway. The evacuation team also ensures the location is safe for officers and the local residents," he stated.
