Jakarta City Council Chairman, Khoirudin supported the Jakarta Provincial Government's effort to give assistance for farmers in Rorotan, North Jakarta.
Variables that cause flood must be anticipated
Khoirudin assessed that solution is needed to avoid farming land in Rorotan to be flooded by overflowing Bogor River.
Realizing Food Self-Sufficiency, Jakarta Holds Simultaneous Planting ActivityKhoirudin suggested Jakarta Provincial Government to run river dredging and weather modification operation to lower the rainfall intensity.
"Variables that cause flood must be anticipated. It includes river dredging and weather modification operation," he said, Thursday (1/30).
Khoirudin added that weather modification operation budget is cheaper compared to flood loss.
"The efforts are important to maintain the food stock and price ahead of Ramadan month," he added.
He continued that Jakarta Provincial Government through Food Security, Marine, and Agriculture Agency also has given assistances in form of capital, fertilizer, cooperating with farmers, and accommodate their production results.
"PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya also widens the area cooperation not only with Solok, West Sumatera or Cianjur, but many more. The effort aims to maintain the food stock and price," he stated.
