Weather Modification to Be Run if Needed, Acting Governor Says

Acting Jakarta Governor, Teguh Setyabudi said the weather modification operaation will be applied if needed according to latest data.

On January 28, 2025, highest rainfall was 368 mm

It was stated by Teguh during his visit to flood refugee camp at Embrio Flat, Semper Barat, Cilincing, North Jakarta, Thursday (1/30).

"We have not run the weather modification again, but it can be if needed," he said.

Baru Barat River Being Dredged for Mutual Comfort

Based on BMKG, Teguh added, the rain in Jakarta on Tuesday (1/28) night was medium to heavy category.

According to him, the flood that hit Jakarta on January 28, 2025 came with similar rainfall that happened in early 2020. Based on the data, highest rainfall in Jakarta in 2020 was 377 mm and lowest at 256 mm.

"On January 28, 2025, highest rainfall was 368 mm and lowest 264 mm," he continued.

In fact, Teguh is grateful that the flood occurred on January 28, 2025 was not like in early 2020. It happened due to many factors, one of them is the personnel readiness in anticipating flood.

"Main and supporting water channel are functioning well. Synergy of stakeholders and regional working units are also good," he admitted.
