The Cilincing Sub-district Satpol PP, North Jakarta and joint personnel, cracked down on street vendors (PKL) along the sidewalk and roadside of Jalan Madya Kebantenan, Semper Timur Urban Village.

Cilincing Sub-district Satpol PP Head, Yopri Parulian said the operation aimed at restoring the function of sidewalks as a right for pedestrians, while also preserving the beauty of the city.
"They (PKL) are allowed to sell, as long as they adhere to the permitted location regulations and do not disturb the people passing by on the sidewalk," he expressed, Wednesday (2/5).

"Ten street vendors on Jalan Madya Kebantenan were netted persuasively, humanely, and firmly," he explained.
He added today's operation involved 30 joint personnel from sub-district and urban village Satpol PP, as well as Transportation Sub-agency.
By doing so, residents were expected to understand the importance of using public facilities according to their intended purpose.
"Our duty is to create order, comfort, and peace in the community," he asserted.
The operation itself received appreciation from one of the sidewalk users, Khainara (32).
"They are mushrooming and are very disturbing to pedestrians. I hope they don't occupy the sidewalk again," she stated.
